The Bulldogs are pleased to announce our first senior signing, 6’3 Forward and former junior Bulldog, Chuck Duru for the 2023/24 season.
A member of the infamous Bulldogs “Dream Team”, Chuck returns to the Bulldogs after 12 years since departing for the USA, where he would attend prep school on a basketball scholarship at the age of 18. On his return to the UK, he went on to earn a scholarship at Newcastle University, where he played a pivotal role in the University’s ascendance into becoming a premier university for basketball in the UK, and winning: 2x BUCS Division 1a league titles, BUCS Trophy, BUCS Premiership Promotion Playoffs, NBL Division Four North and NBL National Shield.
Since leaving the Bulldogs, he has had an illustrious career, which has seen him play across the NBL, including 7 seasons in NBL Division 1 for Team Northumbria, Hemel Storm, Essex Leopards, Reading Rockets, and most recently Westminster Warriors.
This past season, he played for Westminster Warriors in NBL1, averaging 9.2ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.3apg, in 17 minutes off the bench. Known as a prolific shooter, Chuck shot an impressive 39% from 3-point range last season.
Chuck on signing with the Bulldogs: “I’m glad to be home and be playing for my childhood club in my hometown of Barnet – it is really a dream come true! A lot of work has been done behind the scenes to make the Senior team come to fruition and I’m extremely grateful for everyone involved for making this happen. I especially look forward to playing in front of my friends and family in Barnet once again!”
Chuck will join the team in a dual player/coach role and will be coaching the team alongside Coach Neville Polson.
Welcome home, Chuck!
