The Bulldogs Senior team wrapped up their preseason with two wins and one loss, setting the stage for the upcoming season. Their only defeat came in a closely contested game against local rivals London Elite, losing 91-84. They bounced back with victories over Northamptonshire Titans and Ipswich Basketball Club, with new signings Demi Adenuga, Drey Brown, and Josh Djanogly impressing in their debuts.
Injuries were a concern during preseason, with Kelvin Akinmoyo (shoulder) and Bintan Delano (Achilles) missing the last game. However, both players have returned to practice this week, which will be a big boost as the team heads into the season opener.
Coach George Gazetas, who is new to the Bulldogs, reflected on the preseason, saying, “Preseason has been an important time for us to build chemistry and fine-tune our systems. There’s still room for improvement, but the guys have put in a lot of work, and I believe we’ll be ready for the season.”
Gazetas also commented on his transition into the role: “It didn’t take long to adapt. The players, coaches, and management have been very welcoming. I’m really enjoying the collaborative atmosphere we’ve built. The passion for basketball here is contagious, and it’s clear that everyone is committed to the team’s success.”
The Bulldogs start their season next Saturday, 5th October, with a tough away game against Richmond Knights. The Knights, who finished 4th in NBL D2 South last season, come into the match after a dominant win over Cobham Scorchers.
The following day, the Bulldogs will play their National Cup Round 2 game against London Thunder, with the game taking place at Harris Lowe Academy. Tickets are available here.
With preseason behind them and key players returning from injury, the Bulldogs are ready to kick off the season with a double-header weekend.
